Held Daily at 1:00pm beneath the Pavilion

Come see the Fashion trends of the people who lived throughout Upper Canada and the U.S. during the War of 1812. 

Meet The Teacher:

The Schoolhouse is Open at 2:00pm on Saturday. Come meet the teacher and hear the details about early education in Glengarry County and during the War of 1812.

Children’s Military Muster:

Immediately following the Teacher presentation in the schoolhouse, children are invited to wear a uniform and grab a wooden musket for a mini military march and muster with Living History Re-enactors. Parents: Grab your cameras for a great photo opportunity

Storyteller – the Private’s Grandmother:

Beneath the Pavilion at 2:30pm - Meet Martha Cameron, a local Seamstress in the village, who reveals how she is keeping a promise and a family secret alive.

1812 Field Hospital:

Immediately following the Battle, the wounded are rushed into a makeshift field hospital, in the Campbell Barn. Watch Dr. Gregory Baran lead a triage and demonstrates the state of the art medical and surgery practices. Please note that this demonstration could be disturbing to some viewers, please use parental discretion.

Funeral of a Glengarry Soldier:

Mourners are needed, a local boy and soldier of the The Glengarry Light Infantry, falls victim to his wounds after the Battle.  Follow the procession from the museum to the Kenyon Church Cemetery as a graveside funeral is recreated.

War of 1812 Worship Service

Come join us at 9:30am for a War of 1812 themed church worship service at the Kenyon Presbyterian Church. Guest speaker, Richard Feltoe, living history reenactor, author and historian will be offering a glimpse of life in Upper Canada during 1812. All are welcome

After Church Tea:

You are Invited to an After Church Social Tea – For $5.00, you can enjoy a cup of hot tea with fresh baked scones and savour the nostalgic ambience and take comfort in the words of guest storyteller, Lesley Orr.

Raising the Dead

This short film was created by students of Sheridan College who travelled across Ontario with the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada (IMUC), re-enacting battles from the war of 1812.

The BATTLE of GLENGARRY Returns!

CONVERGING FORCES UNITE FOR OUR 6th INVASION......

September 26 - 27, 2015
Saturday 10 am- 5 pm, Sunday 10 am - 3 pm

It is our 6th Annual rendezvous at the Crossroads of Dunvegan, where History 200 years in the making, comes to Life. Living History Re-enactors from across the province and the United States are pleased to once again return with their muskets, cannons and campfires to recreate the 1812-1814 conflict on the museum grounds. Check out the Fashion Show, take in an 1812 inspired church service, and tour the encampments of the British, Americans, Civilians, and Native Allies, all leading up to a pinnacle Battle that will be staged live daily. For something different, 1812 reproductions are available for sale to the public by our visiting Sutlers (merchants) .

The Glengarry Pioneer Museum is excited to welcome the return of the 19th Light Dragoons. They were the only British Cavalry Unit to serve in Canada during the War of 1812. Performing daily with Cavalry tactical demonstrations on the field at 11:00am both Saturday and Sunday.

Going to Church

We are partnering up again with Kenyon Prebyterian Church for an 1812-inspired church service. If you come early enough, you will see the museum's costumed guests gather for a church parade and make the walk up to church. This year, the church service begins at 9:30am.

 The Battles will be staged LIVE Daily at 3:00pm on Saturday and 2:00pm on Sunday. Regular drills, period music, children's activities, noon cannon salute.

Have you ever been to a 19th Century Mall? We will now have a Sutlers Row offering merchandise availble for purchase from fresh baked breads, clothing, fabric, fragrances, soaps, hand-forged iron and much more. Please note, that our merchants are not equipped to handle credit cards or bank cards, so bring extra cash.
